perfect weather, perfect golden light….and perfect family. what a night. I always love the opportunity to photograph this wonderful high energy family of five. Last night we even had Deacon and Boo join us, and they could not have been any better!

“what do I wear for my photos?” is easily the most frequently asked question I get. well i recently rediscovered a little gem of a store nestled right down on Lexington avenue in Asheville. I only had my little point and shoot camera with me (!!!) so forgive the image quality, but this is another store that you just must checkout for adorable clothing, along the lines of Anthropologie, but at a really great price point. High school girls will love this shop!

for seniors sessions, it is the most often asked question. I have several good suggestions for clothing, but this place, Union is easily one of my favorites. For the girls their style is fun and flirty, colorful and chic, and for the guys, it is just very cool and urban. Here are a few of my favorites gathered from their website:

the earlier we teach our kids to be good stewards of the earth, the better all of our lives will be. we are really fortunate in asheville to have a tremendous community program dedicated to keeping our local river, the French Broad, clean and free flowing……it definitely takes a village.
“RiverLink is a regional non-profit spearheading the economic and environmental revitalization of the French Broad River and its tributaries as a place to work, live and play. Since 1987 we have engaged in simultaneous efforts to address water quality concerns throughout the French Broad River basin, expand public opportunities for access and recreation, and spearheaded the economic revitalization of Asheville’s dilapidated riverfront district.”
as part of the education of our youth, riverlink has an annual earth day art contest and this year i was lucky enough to be asked to be one of the sponsors by donating my time for a little mini photo session with the winners. i cannot tell you what a wonderful experience this was for me. the kids who were involved with this contest were the biggest breath of fresh air i have encountered in a long time, smart, eager, interesting, positive………just refreshing. though it was only a couple of hours of photography, i could have stayed and stayed. thanks to all who were able to make it. it was my sincere pleasure. here are a few of the images from the session.

right after, “where should we shoot?” , “what should we wear” is inevitably the next question! with so many upcoming family and children’s sessions, i thought i might post a few things that recently caught my eye. of course, when thinking and deciding what to wear, first and foremost should be what speaks to you, or what represents you…it is great to have a spiffy new outfit, but if spiffy doesn’t even come close to resembling what you are all about, you’re not likely going to feel all wonderful in that type of get up. so, make certain that what you choose truly represents you, on a really good day. something that makes you grin from ear to ear, and makes you feel like a superstar.
Boden has to be my absolute new favorite retailer. i just love their colors and fabrics, and they have a sale going on right now 20% off and free shipping and returns! and isn’t it wonderful that kids can even indulge in a little mini boden. some of my favorites:
